Happy Birthday Papa!!!

My dad’s birthday was Saturday!  We had fun going to one of our favorite places (Babe’s) to celebrate and then having a little dessert back at their house.  His birthday came on the heels of a rough week with the passing of my grandmother, so it was nice to be able to celebrate life together.

Hudson was really excited when they sang the “Hokey, Pokey” at the restaurant:

Visiting with the Powell's

Our friends came in town on Friday and I was so excited to see them!  It had been far too long.  I was most excited to meet their little boy Kasen who just turned one!  We spent the day at the aquarium and then had a yummy lunch at Chuy’s.  Both boys did very well – especially considering there were ONE THOUSAND kids there on field trips (I kid you not, there was even a sign stating this fact) and my kiddo did not nap (shocker).

I thought these were the prettiest flamingos:

The shark exhibit was really cool…it reminded me of the Omaha zoo.  The sharks swim around and above you:

Sweet boy was really into the sharks and wanted to wave to them!

Kara and Marc had some car trouble, the boys had fun exploring the Chuy’s parking lot while we waited (closely supervised, of course):

We had such a fun time and hope to see you guys again SOON!!! :)

Summer is here!

And the pool is open!!!DSC_1854

We took Hudson to the pool for our first summer swim this weekend.  I was really hoping he loved it for two reasons – it is going to be a HOT summer and we have swim lessons in a few weeks.  We only got him in the pool a couple of times last summer since he was so little, so this was really like his first experience.  Here is a flashback to last July (4 1/2 months old):

Anyway, I am thrilled to report that it looks like we have a water baby on our hands!DSC_1863

Father/Son Bonding

Hudson and Trent did a little bonding this weekend and watched some Backyardigans. They both love them some Pablo. :)

Food Network's got nothing...

on Trent! I like to cook, but Trent LOVES to cook. And I certainly don't mind reaping the benefits! :) He made us a delicous meal Saturday night - steak, homemade mac and cheese (with breadcrumbs on top!) and these yummy spinach thingys (clearly the proper term:)). It was all so good and I am so thankful that Trent cooks for us so much.

Summer Nights!

I love summer nights! I love that it stays lighter later, night swimming, grilling out, etc. And of course, I love desserts! Trent and I took Hudson to get one of our favorite treats this weekend - custard. I was shocked to discovered Hudson loved it...I am kidding, of course. We had a fun time eating custard and hanging out. Looking forward to many more fun summer nights this summer!

Fun at the Zoo!

I have said many times that the zoo pass is the greatest gift to the stay-at-home-mom. Admission year-round, free parking, discounts, it doesn't get much better. I love the we can go, stay a couple of hours and know that we definitely got our money's worth. Nana, Papa, Hudson and I went to the zoo on Thursday. Hudson is getting to the age where he recognizes the animals and is really starting to enjoy it. He no longer just sleeps through our visits. :)

Fun with laundry...?

It always amazes me the things Hudson finds entertaining. The other night I brought his laundry into the living room to do after he went to bed. He had a ball "sorting" it and then decided to go ahead and just climb in. Who needs toys when you have laundry to play with?
