Parade of Lights!

It is a long-standing tradition in our family to attend the FW Parade of Lights the day after Thanksgiving!  It really kicks off the holidays for me!  We haven’t been able to go the past couple of years (pregnancy and then it was too cold last year for H) and so I was super excited about this year.  The Oakley’s joined us, which made it even more fun!

We had to get there a couple of hours early to make sure we got good seats.  Of course, Hudson wanted to spend that time exploring:

We lured the kids to their strollers with the promise of snacks:

My picture taking pretty much ends here!  However, the parade started soon after that.  The kids really did great considering they had been out there for 2 hours before it started.  They made it about 2/3 of the way through before the daddies had to take them to walk around a bit.  Mallie and I figure that next year they will really love it (especially when Keelan joins them ;)).

I love this time of year!

Thanksgiving 2009

Hudson started out Thanksgiving with his morning milk and his morning paper:

After breakfast it was time for our annual Fletcher Family Turkey Trot!  So, we bundled Hudson up and headed out:

We got back just in time for the Macy’s parade:

Soon it was time for Hudson to take a nap and the rest of us to finish preparing the meal.  Trent has been super excited to fry a turkey.  I was a little nervous about this (probably because everyone kept telling me how very careful he needed to be).  Luckily, it went off without a hitch and I can honestly say it was the most delicious turkey I have ever had!

Thanksgiving Eve!

We started out our day at the park with Mallie/Gates and Jenny/Keelan.  We went to a new (to us) park.  There was a wide open space that Hudson loved running around in…

One of the neat things about this park is that Trent helped build it a couple of years ago.  When looking through the pictures he remembered building this part specifically:

We continued our tradition of eating at Joe T’s on Thanksgiving Eve:

Hudson discovered a love for sour cream tonight…so not like his parents!!!

After dinner I wanted to drive by our favorite Christmas lights display in FW just to see if they had put them up yet.  They had!  Huddy was mesmerized…I can’t wait to take him to look at lights this year!

21 Months!!!!!!

21_edited-1

Dear Huddy,

You are 21 months old today!!!!!  We have had quite a month together.  About a month ago you had tubes put in your ears, the results have been all we have hoped for and more.  You are sleeping better and you definitely are hearing better!  The speech is slowly coming, but we aren’t worried.  You are still babbling up a storm in your language. :)  It is truly one of the cutest thing we have ever heard.  Your eating patterns have definitely changed this month – to sum it up…you don’t want to eat!  This is a major change for you.  We are attributing it to your age and the fact that those molars are coming in right now.  Occasionally, you still like your favorites but you are on a complete protein strike (except for Joe T’s chicken which you scarf down).  You love playing with your friends, going to the park, dancing to music, and you LOVE it when Daddy comes home.  To my dismay, you have discovered Dora (thanks Nana) and are in love with her.  It is pretty fun to watch you do the “we did it” dance at the end though.  You are in a major hugging stage and it might just be my favorite stage EVER.  You come running to give us hugs, squeeze as tight as you can and say “ohhhhhhhhhh”.  I.Love.It.  You love to be outside and explore.  You find all sorts of little treasures and you aren’t too happy when I don’t let you keep some of them.  I can’t begin to tell you how much we love you.  I love to sneak in at night and watch you sleep.  I want you to know that I treasure each minute with you and I thank God everyday for you.

We love you so much!!!

Nothing better on a beautiful fall day…

than going to the park with friends!  We had a fun playgroup at the park today.  It was actually COLD this morning!  So, I threw a fleece and hat on Huddy and off we went.
