Teddy Bear Parade/Valentine’s Day…

Hud’s school has a tradition on Valentine’s Day – a teddy bear parade! The kids decorate boxes and then put their favorite stuffed animal in it.  An obstacle course is set up for the kids and their animals.

The little kids go first and then they work their way up to the bigger kids.  Harps hung out with Nana while we waited:

Finally, we spotted his class:

Hud was super excited to see us (he asked me the entire way to school if we were going to be there to watch):

It really is a cute thing to watch.  Judge was Hud’s companion, of course. :)

After the parade, this little lady, my mom and I hit up the tea room for a fun Valentine’s lunch:

The rest of V day was downhill fast. :( First, we took Hud in for his first allergy shot (lesson learned…if the sign says they close at 4:40, they want you there by 4:10. which makes no sense to me, by the way. But, I am forever thankful that the nurse took pity on me and gave him his shot anyway).  After the shot and battling major traffic getting home, I took Harper to Urgent Care to find out she had pink eye. Awesome.

The boys had a fun Valentine’s dinner while we were at the doctor:

Playing hooky…

On a beautiful (slightly chilly) Sunday in February, we played hooky from church and hit Fossil Rim.  It was a perfect day for it and not crowded at all!

Sweet girl loved sitting in bubba’s seat:

Sister got in on the act:

Then she moved to the front seat with all of us:

Afterwards, Hudson requested “lunch at the place with the animals on the wall”…which happens to be a favorite of ours!

A lovely day for making memories.

This was NOT the child I expected this from….

Allergy testing…

Poor Hud’s allergies have been well documented on this blog.  After a year of debating, praying and trying everything (not to mention two additional allergy related surgeries), we finally decided it was time for allergy shots.

The first step was the skin test. Now, I had the skin test as a child (as did Trent) and I CLEARLY blocked it out. The doctor told me to not even consider doing the skin test unless I was positive we were going to do shots. I now see why.  Trent was originally supposed to meet me to help me, but he got caught at work. I naively told him I would be fine on my own. It was honestly the most traumatic experience of both of our lives!  They stuck him with needles all over his back and he screamed with every prick.  After a few minutes his back looked like this:

As suspected, he is allergic to pretty much everything in nature.  This confirmed the decision to do shots for me.  He was miserable for 20 minutes because he couldn’t scratch it or anything.  I was promising him everything under the sun to make up for this experience (which is very unlike me).  After we finished, I made good on my promise and bought him a Captain American shield, Hulk smash hands and a Hulk smash mask:

Honestly, it was the least I could do for my sweet boy. I would have done anything to make it better that day.

I am fighting a losing battle with this one…

She definitely has her own (very strong) opinions when it comes to clothes – especially shoes! At least she is trendy…;)

This happened…

I am still not ready to talk about it. I cannot believe my baby boy is going to Kindergarten. :(

Dinosaurs Alive!

There is a hidden gem in McKinney called the Heard Museum.  They have a dinosaur exhibit that runs from October to February.  I saw the ad back in October and wanted to take the kids. I forgot about it until the night before it ended! Glad I remembered! My mom and I loaded up the kids and drove them to Oklahoma. ;)

It was a chilly, but beautiful day!

Hud loves him some dinosaurs, so he was way into it.

Little bit was a little more cautious:

Throwing rocks is always fun (only if no one is around to get hit!):

This was a “spitting” dinosaur. Hud was NOT pleased and Harper asked us the rest of the day “why that dinosaur get bubba wet?”
