A look back...
I love looking back and seeing how much our little guy has changed. I also love the fact that even though he has obviously changed tremendously, I can still see so much of his newborn self in his little face. The evolution of the sign (or lack their of) cracks me up as well. What an amazing first year it has been!!! We look forward to so many more with Hudson James!

More Birthday Fun!
Hudson woke up bright and early this morning! He must have known what a special day it was...Trent took the day off today, so we both went in to greet his smiling face!!!
After breakfast and a nap we all got ready to head to Kindermusik. I love that Trent was able to go and see what Hudson experiences every week. We took a few pictures of Hudson and I together because I have so few since I am usually behind the camera...

The rest of our day was fun, too. We had a breakfast lunch at Pei Wei. After that Hudson, my mom and I ran errands for his big party! Unfortunately, an afternoon nap was not in the cards and so Huddy went to bed early. I was a little sad because I wanted him to open his presents from us and go to Braum's for his first taste of ice cream...but that just means we have even more to look forward to this weekend! Happy Birthday Hudson!!!! We love you!

ONE YEAR OLD!!!!
You can't see your sign, but today you are a year old!!!! This is such an exciting day that we have looked forward to for so long. We are so proud of our baby boy. You are the most precious little boy that we could ever imagine. Every day you amaze your daddy and me with your sweet disposition. Honestly, we can take you every where and you go with the flow. This past month has been a fun month for us. You have experienced even more foods and we have yet to find one you don't like (except for that lime incident :)). You started Kindermusik this past month and do you love it! You are so social and like to greet every baby and mommy in the class. When the music starts you are ready to go! You love to hear the music and especially the teacher singing. When she sings you are glued to her, not so much when mommy sings. We love that you love music.
You are still working on walking. We are pretty sure you will take off running once you get it down. You cruise along the furniture quickly and will stand up on your own for a quite a while. The walking will come when you are ready and we look foward to seeing it.
We took a couple of road trips to Waco this past month. It is fun for me to see you in a place that is so special. :)
You definitely are a social butterfly...you never meet a stranger! You will let anyone hold you, but when you are done, you're done and you want your mommy or daddy. I have to keep an eye on you because you definitely don't understand "stranger danger" yet.
One of your new favorite things to do is to wrestle with your daddy on our big bed. You get so excited when he gets home and crawl as quickly as you can to our room. When you get there you pull yourself up and wait expectantly for your daddy. You are pretty disappointed during the day when you crawl in there and I am the only one there. A new love in your life are the Backyardagains. You love that show! You dance when the music comes on and laugh out loud at their adventures. It is so fun to watch.
We are working on words. So far you can say mama, dada, hi and thank you. Your daddy and I were so excited to hear you say "thank you" from the backseat a couple of weeks ago! You have the cutest little voice! :)
Though it is bittersweet for me that you are turning one today, I am more happy than anything else. We are so grateful to have such a sweet, healthy little boy. We are so blessed that God has given us the privilege of raising you. It is our prayer that we raise you to know that you are a child of God and how much Christ loves you. We love you so much, Hudson James. We look forward to celebrating YOU on Saturday with family and friends.
Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Birthday Eve!
A year ago tonight Trent and I spent the day together. We went to a movie (Definitely, Maybe) and then to dinner at Billy Miner's downtown. I thought it would be fun to start the tradition of going to Billy Miner's on Hudson's birthday eve (I will pause for the shock to wear off that I wanted to start a tradition). So, tonight Hudson and I ventured downtown to meet Trent after work. I kept telling Hudson how fun it was that this year he is an "outside" baby! :)

I totally stole this from Jessica...a picture of my sweet baby boy the night before his FIRST birthday!

A New View...
We turned Hudson's carseat around this weekend. I have so been looking forward to this milestone - I couldn't wait to see Hudson's happy face looking towards us and I was happy about being able to see what was going on when he makes noises that I am not familiar with...:) We thought he would be so excited because he loves to look around and he is always craning his neck to find us in the fronts. Well...he is not as into it as we had hoped. Hopefully, he will start to love it more soon. Could it be that he is a lot like his mommy and isn't a fan of change?? Or maybe he misses his footrest? We will see if he starts to enjoy it more soon or we might be turning it back around! :)
