Thankful

We had a lovely Thanksgiving.  It was cold here and windy.  Fletcher Family Turkey Trot didn’t happen this year.  That is the first time since we got married (minus the year that Harper was 3 weeks old).  It was just too cold.  We instead lounged around and watched the parade.

I am so thankful for these two right here. Words cannot adequately express how much I love them and how much they mean to me:

Our chef really outdid himself this year! And since we all agreed this was the best year of sides, I thought I better blog it so we remember it next year:
Fried Turkey from Bonnels (delish)

Ham

Mac and Cheese

Sweet potato casserole (modified Ruth’s Chris version)

Bourbon Baked Cranberries

Baked Corn Casserole

Green bean casserole

Rolls

And a to die for pecan bar.

This was one kid’s plate:

And the other:

I will let you guess which plate belongs to which kid…

Thankful for the crazy crew:

We kicked off the Christmas season after respecting the turkey. New pjs and a Christmas movie!

Thanksgiving Week

There is nothing I love more than having both my kids home! A week off at Thanksgiving was perfection!

We kicked it off with a trip to the museum. It was freezing that day, but we dodged the Iceapocolaypse that was forecast.  After some fun at the museum, we went and had lunch with Trent.

Tuesday, we met our friends at Gattiland. The kids love that place!

And after playing, had to have a second lunch. They woke up quite the appetite:

We went to see the much anticipated Frozen! It was quite a hit!  Especially with my littlest love that usually won’t sit through movies in the theater!

Hud did some practice writing afterwards:

Harper and I headed to the zoo with Alan and Mallie one day.  It was a gorgeous fall day and the trees were popping with beautiful color!

Weekend what not

We had a low key weekend.  We did a few crafts:

Oh, and I went to the Pink concert. ;)

And we had some visitors for the weekend. Lucy and Gracie (Hudson’s class pet guinea pigs) came to stay:

We did a little baking while the boys were at a birthday party:

It was a nice low-key weekend before the hustle and bustle of the holidays hit!

ICE!!!!

Mom and I decided to brave ICE again this year.  Last year, we went over Thanksgiving break and it was rather miserable. Super crowded, Harper cried the whole time AND we got the flu (mom and I did). We sound rather crazy to try again, but I thought it could be fun if it wasn’t crowded.  Hudson had an early release from school one Friday, so that was the day!

We were bundled up as much as we could be:

There was NO ONE there!  (And word to the wise: get your flu shot before you go. I asked how often they clean the parkas and the answer was “every 3 days I think”. ick.). And these pictures are a little out of order but my computer is so slow, I am just leaving them:

After the Nutcracker themed area, there was an awesome NYC display. Made me miss my favorite city in the world:

At the end is the beautiful nativity scene. Love this picture of my sweet boy honoring baby Jesus:

We took some time to check out the beautiful Christmas display afterwards:

Such a fun time!  We will definitely do it again next year!
