Fun with Kasen!

My friend Kara and her husband came in town a couple of weekends ago.  We were able to watch their little boy for a few hours while they went to an event.  Kasen is only a couple of months younger than Hudson so I got a small dose of what twins might be like!  The boys had fun playing together. We spent most of the time in my parents backyard playing with bubbles, balls and just running around.  It was a fun afternoon and we can’t wait to see them again!

Good Times…

A couple of months ago we moved all of Hudson’s toys into his room.  Of course, a lot of them migrate into the rest of the house throughout the day which is great. Generally, it is the smaller toys that make the move.  However, the other day Hudson was really loving his basketball goal and decided he must carry it to the living room:

Shortly after I snapped this picture, he realized that I was taking pictures and decided to pose:

Then he decided a super fun game would be to run at me every time I took a picture:

Muffin Tin Monday!

I read about this idea on various blogs and decided to give it a try today.  It was a hit!  I think we will be making this a weekly thing in our house.  The idea is to plan a meal around a theme and serve it in a muffin tin.  In honor of July, we went with a patriotic theme today!

We had red grapes, white milk, blue blueberries, macaroni and hot dogs!

Seventeen Months!!!

DSC_2408

Dear Hudson,

You are seventeen months today!  In honor of your seventeenth month here are seventeen things we love about you:

1. Your language.  You have the sweetest voice and babble up a storm.  I love listen to you talk in your sweet language.  I will love it when we understand what you are saying, but I will forever love the sweet way you communicate right now.

2. The way you run to the door as soon as I say Daddy’s home.  I love how you drop everything and race to the door and bounce up and down waiting on him.

3. Your dance moves!  I love watching you dance as soon as you hear music.

4. Your new favorite position.  I love it when you put your hands behind your head to relax. You look like such a little man and it is precious!

5. How you laugh at the big kids.  Nothing makes you laugh harder than older children, even if you don’t know them or they are simply walking by.  You eat it up!

6. Your energy level.  I really do love this even if I am exhausted at the end of the day from keeping up with you. :)  You are busy all the time and it is fun to play alongside you.

7. Your social side.  I love that you still wave to everyone wherever we go.  It also makes me laugh how you stare them down until they respond to you.

8. Watching you play with your daddy.  Nothing brings me greater joy than watching the two of you run around and play together.

9. Your new tickle spot.  We discovered that you are quite ticklish on your sides and it is an easy way to get the sweetest belly laugh out of you.

10. Your happy demeanor. 99% of the time you are in such a good mood and such a happy little guy.

11.  Your precious dimple.  I love seeing that when you give us a little smile!

12.  Snuggling with you when you drink your milk after your nap.  I love that even though you are one of the busiest kids I have ever seen, you still slow down long enough to cuddle with us.

13. Your big, blue, sparkly eyes.  They shine every morning when we see you.

14.  Your new “Frankie” walk.  We aren’t sure where it came from but it cracks us up.

15.  That you love the water and the outdoors.

16. That you are such a good eater.  I love that you will try anything and usually love it.

17.   Your inquisitive nature.  You are such a curious child. You are always checking out your surroundings and wanting to know what is going on at all times.

I could go on and on about all the things that I love about you, Huddy.  You are our sweet little boy and we love you so very much.  Happy 17 months!!!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Random Fun….

I bought a sprinkler ball for the days we couldn’t make it to the pool.  It feels like this summer has been the hottest summer ever!  Hudson loves to be outside and thankfully loves the water as well!

On our trip to Omaha we made a stop in Guthrie, OK for lunch.  There was this adorable place that we liked to stop and eat on our trips.  We pulled up to the town square, starving and ready for some good food!  And the restaurant was gone.  And there aren’t very many other choices for food in Guthrie (or surrounding cities).  So, we settled for Braum’s!

And in our on-going quest to stay cool, we went to this great water park with Mallie and Gates:

Just like Daddy…

This is how Hudson has started sleeping in the car:

It makes me giggle because Trent sleeps this way a lot!

I have GOT to get this on video…

and I will as soon as I charge up the battery on the video camera.  Hudson has a new “walk” – he walks like Frankenstein.  He does it randomly, but occasionally he will do it on command.  Trent and my parents will ask him to do the “frankie” and he will….

The long drive home…

Omaha is a pretty long drive. :)  We made sure to take a couple of stops to let Hud stretch his legs.  One of our first stops was University of Nebraska in Lincoln.  Granted it wasn’t that far from Omaha, but we had a few very important errands to run. (Namely getting dry ice for our Runza's that we were bringing back home). So, we let Huddy get some running in:

More Backyard Fun!

Huddy really loved his Grammy’s backyard.  He would go to the door constantly begging to go outside.  While he was out there I took a million pictures because it was so fun to see him laughing so hard!

After Huddy went to bed, we lit more firecrackers.  We had gone to buy fireworks on the Fourth at the place Trent grew up going to…

That night we lit them:
