Fun with the Hagins!

We wrapped up our trip by making a stop by the Hagins new house!  I am so excited for the new chapter in their life!!!  Anyway, I didn’t take very many pictures because a. my battery was going dead and b. I was chasing Hudson most of the time.  However, I was able to take a crackberry picture with them which I was not able to do another time we were together.

Love you guys!

Childhood Memories

This week Hudson and I took a road trip with my mom and dad.  We headed south on 35 and spent some time in Salado.  When I was growing up my parents and I went down there every summer.  I have a lot of fond memories of that place.  It was fun to take Hudson there and make some memories with my little guy!

This is the stagecoach that is outside of the Inn we always stayed at.  I have tons of pictures of me as a child in this stagecoach – you can’t get in it anymore so we had to settle for pictures outside of it:

When Hudson realized he wasn’t going to be getting in the stagecoach, he started exploring:

Check out those cheeks – it is HOT here!

Of course, no trip south is complete without a stop at our favorite university!

Father’s Day 2009

Father’s Day was a great day!  We started out the day with a family walk.  Hudson went down for a nap right after we got back.  Trent and I watched church on the computer – that is our new thing.  We can watch a live stream of the service at our church.  It works well right now because of Hudson’s nap schedule and his aversion to nurseries!

After church and Hudson’s nap Trent opened his cards and gift:

Then we headed over to my parents house for some lunch and more gifts:

We decided to cool down after lunch.  It is HOT here!  Unfortunately, it is here to stay until October probably.  Ugh…

Swim Lessons!

swim lessons

This week we took swim lessons with most of Hudson’s friends!  I would love to report that our little fish loved swim lessons.  Unfortunately, he wanted to do swim lessons on his own terms which usually meant working on the skill for about five minutes and then escaping the pool to explore.  He was particularly fascinated with the iron gate.  It was a fun week and I look forward to doing swim lessons again next summer!

Sixteen Months Old!!!

DSC_2086

Dear Hudson,

You are sixteen months old today!  You are full of life, energy and joy!  The past month has been such a fun one.  We have gone from watching you take your first tentative steps to running!  And it seemed to happen overnight.  You love your freedom – you love to walk back and forth between the living room and your room. You are very active.  Your new favorite game is to pull all of the cups and bowls off of your shelf in the kitchen island.  You also love it when your daddy comes home.  I tell you that your daddy is home and you make a beeline for the door and wait for him.  It is so cute to watch. You are my curious little boy.  You love to explore and find new situations fascinating.  You love the pool, but on your own terms.  You weren’t so into the structured swim lesson, you preferred to explore the backyard.  You give the sweetest hugs and kisses.  I love it when you run up with your arms stretched out ready to dive into a hug.  You are an early riser – a trait you definitely got from your daddy.  You are napping a little better these days (though I am a little nervous to put that in writing).  You love fruit and would eat it all day long if I let you.  Your word of the month is “okay”.  You say okay (and okie dokie) all the time. It makes us laugh out loud – it is so adorable to hear.  You chatterbox all day long! You still have a love for music, you will clap and dance along.  You are very social and make friends wherever we go.  You are very determined to wave at everyone you see and persist until they wave back.  You are our sweet baby boy and we love you so very much.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Forest Park Mini-Train

Last week our playgroup met to ride the train!  I have passed this train for years and couldn’t wait to have kids to go ride it.  Looks like I may have to wait a little longer. :)

This is the ONLY picture I captured that day:

Hudson was not really down with a forty minute train ride. Our little explorer would have preferred to be on the ground running around.  The only thing that kept him occupied were snacks (thank you Jenny and Katie!).  The other kiddos all seemed to enjoy themselves…maybe we will try again in a few months!

Swimming with Gates!

Hudson and I went over to play with Mallie and Gates last week.  Mallie had the baby pool set up and I could barely get his clothes off before Hudson was in it.  The kid loves the water!

2009 California Trip Day Five

Our last day…we would have been very sad to leave, if we weren’t missing Hudson so much!  For our final breakfast we had an egg quiche, chicken apple sausage, homemade corn muffins and fruit.  Yummy!  Our friends from the day before were gone, so we made new friends.  We talked for a very long time with another couple who had a three year old little girl.  We had the most similar pregnancies, it was crazy!  And we managed to majorly freak out the girl sitting at our table.  Awesome.

This was the only day that we remembered to take pictures of the Inn itself:

This was the common area:

We had planned to drive through Armstrong Woods – the state of California is bankrupt and they are closing all state parks come July 1st.  However, we ran out of time because we visited for too long (imagine that).  We also planned to stop by Stanford since we flew back out of San Jose airport.  We did drive through it, but didn’t have time to stop and it appeared that they had graduation going on.  It was a gorgeous campus though.

We had such a wonderful time and look forward to going back again!

2009 California Trip Day Four

On our fourth day we had another delicious breakfast (are you sick of reading those yet?  Because I really want to remember what we ate).  We had french toast casserole, ham and fruit (we actually had fruit everyday, but I forgot to add that the other days).  Anyway, we visited with our new friends for awhile and then we headed out.

Our day started with a tour at Pride.  Pride was at the top of a mountain and the views were to die for!

The winery is the only one that is half in Sonoma and half in Napa County.  Here is the line dividing the two counties:

After Pride we went to Robert Keenan – unfortunately no pictures there.  Then we went back to Taylor’s Refresher for another yummy lunch (what can I say? We are creatures of habit).

After lunch we headed to Frank Family:

Frank Family is one of my favorites because the man who owns it used to be president of Paramount Television.  And since I am a little star-struck – it is right up my alley.

Unfortunately, that is also where my camera battery died!  Ugh. So, I missed pictures at Seghesio.  After that we went back to Underwood for another delicious meal…creatures of habit, remember?
