Going to the lodge…

I have been dying to take Hud to Great Wolf for a while now.  We decided to surprise him and take him for a late birthday surprise.  We also decided to leave Harper at my mom and dad’s since she still isn’t walking and crawling in water is no fun. :)

You can see that Hud was anxiously awaiting to see where we were going:

Once we got there he was very excited!

He looked so big rolling his own suitcase!

Ready for Day 1!

He kept calling it his “surprise water”. He really liked the “green river” (lazy river), wave pool, and the slides we could all 3 go on together. He was so brave and never hesitated going down a slide, even the ones he had to go down by himself!  He could ride all but one (I think) slide.

After a fun afternoon, we went back to the room to shower for dinner.  Hud chilled on the bed while he waited for us:

We went to Uncle Julio’s for dinner (since Mexican is always a guarantee hit for our picky eater):

And of course…an after dinner treat of ice cream:

We made it back just in time for story time. Most of the kids wear pjs, but we literally walked in as they were starting:

As we were getting ready for bed, Hud said, “Mommy, I SO miss my Harper Joy”. Sweet boy.

Day 2:

We played from 9 to 3!!!  It was so fun. I don’t know who was having more fun – Hud or us!

We took a break for lunch. We had been told to pack a cooler of our food (smart move) and went to the lobby to eat since we had already checked out:

Then it was back for more fun!

Hud insisted he needed a really big pretzel – which he ate one bite of!

He CRASHED on our way to get Harper!  I call that a success. :)

We promised him that we would take him back WITH Harper as soon as she learns to walk (yeah, she is still not walking).  He will hold us to it since EVERY DAY since we went he sings “going to the lodge” and asks Harper if she wants to go in the surprise water. He told her he would take her in the green river and hold her and take care of her. :)

The following conversation happened in the car the other morning:
”Harper Joy, do you want to go to the surprise water with me?”

(Harper): “uh-huh”

Hud: “Mama! She said uh-huh!”

Me: “As soon as she learns to walk”

Hud: “Harper, do you want to learn to walk so you can go to the surprise water?”

Harper: “un-huh”

Hud: “Mommy, she said un-huh!”

Yep, that about sums it up. :)
