5!

Dear Harper,

You are 5!!! And you are super excited about it. You like to tell everyone that you are five years old. :)

At five, you are still a pretty picky eater. You will try more things than you used to, but you aren't always happy about it. You are our little snack attack. Your go to phrase is "Can I have a snack?"

You are the BEST sister. You love your bubba like no other and play with him non-stop. He is your best friend and you look up to him so much. You take such good care of him and you are always concerned about him. You are so protective. You are such a good big sister to Finley. You baby talk her, which cracks me up. You are so sweet to her, you want to pass all of your toys to her and teach her everything.

You are the epitome of your middle name. You literally skip instead of walk and sometimes sing instead of talk. Speaking of talking, you like to talk a lot. ;) You come by it honestly. I love talking with you and our little conversations. You keep me on my toes and do not let me forget a thing!

You are my sensitive little soul who always wants everyone to be happy. I could not love you more if I tried. I love you so much baby girl and I know God has BIG things in store for you.

Love,
Mommy

Harper is 5!!!!

Traditional balloons and streamers:

The boys and I woke her up to sing to her (we are going to pretend she had not already run down to my room and I sent her back up):

When Fin woke up, she gave her a big birthday smile:

Harper requested to go to Pump it Up for open jump with Lucy for her birthday:

After pump it up we went to lunch and then the girls continued their playdate. We met Trent at Joe T's for dinner:

Then it was back to our house for a game:

And then cake and presents!

It was a special day for our special girl!

Harper is 5!!!!!!!

Last sleep as a 4 year old!

This and that

Harper was celebrated at school!

She wants to be wherever they are:

I love the way they ALL love each other:

Kicking off Harper's birthday week!

Harper has been asking for an American Girl doll for a while now. It was the one consistent thing she wanted for her birthday. So, my mom and I decided to get her one. Off to Dallas we went:

She got her Mary Ellen and she was thrilled!!!

November

November is Diabetes awareness month:

We had a LAZY Sunday following Halloween:

I love that he loves to read like his mama:

Be thankful in ALL things:

I am MORE than diabetes collage:

Halloween!

Our unusually wet October continued and Halloween was no exception. Our two soccer games were cancelled, so we had a low key day at home:

Sock puppets were made:

If the big kids lock you out of the playroom, we will bring the playroom to you! This is the most play the kitchen has gotten...maybe ever:

We had a few round of Halloween Bingo between the two most competitive people in the house:

We also went to a fun dinner get together at our friends house. We were bringing baked beans and it brought back a memory of a dinner we had in college. Suffice it to say I sent this pic to two of my best friends and they begged me to let Trent take it out of the oven. I did:

My little ladybug and Harry Potter himself:

Our littlest ladybug (who only made dinner and pictures before she turned into a pumpkin):

Part of our new normal, testing Hudson's blood before we went out TOT. Halloween was bittersweet for me this year. It is one of my strongest memories of "before" from last year. Over the course of the next two weeks, I started to suspect that Hudson had diabetes. In my mind, Halloween was the last perfect night before the world crashed down:

Ready to go!

Ran into lots of friends. Trick or treating in our neighborhood is so fun because there are so many friends to run into!

And of course we hit our own house where Nana and Pop were watching Fin and passing out candy:

Their loot! It was a very successful night!
I very rarely let the kids sleep in our room (pretty much only if they are sick. though I considered moving Hud permanently in our room when he was diagnosed. Trent nixed that). I told them we could have a special Halloween sleepover. Truthfully, I didn't know what Hud's sugar was going to do overnight and I wanted him close to us. And the other secret is I really love having sleepovers with them. Thanks to good old daylight savings, I didn't get much sleep, but Hud's sugars were perfect!

My very favorite picture of the night!
