We started off our fourth day at Disney at Chef Mickey. This was one of our favorite character meals last year and we were really looking forward to it!
Harper (terrified of characters, remember?) checking out the scene to make sure they aren’t going to sneak up on her:
She is just not so sure about this character business:
Goofy came up first. And made the mistake of tapping Harper on the shoulder from behind. This sent her into full out terror mode. I am talking red in the face, trembling and crying louder than I have ever heard. He quickly moved on to Hud:
We saw Donald coming and intervened before he got too close to Harps:
Still suffering from a little PTSD from Goofy:
Mickey and Pluto were hits with H1:
Harper is starting to relax because no one has made Goofy’s mistake:
Minnie for the win:
We got a picture. Harper didn’t freak out (too much). The only thing that could have been better is if I had been able to jump in it.
I had to get one of just Hud and Minnie in keeping with our pattern:
And then Minnie did THIS:
Cracked.us.up. Hud? Not so much. He was pretty furious at Minnie. :)
He got over it quickly:
After breakfast, we headed over to Magic Kingdom!
I love all of the Halloween/Fall decorations at MK:
We got there early enough that they were still doing all of the morning kickoff events. This is the “Mayor” of MK (we have never seen him in any of our trips and I think we saw him five times this time):
The talking trash can in Tomorrowland fascinates Hud:
Hud wanted to ride the teacups. Harps technically could ride, but we decided she would not care for it. So, Hud and I went just the two of us:
Trent caught me taking a pic of Hud mid-ride:
Harps is rarely without a lovey:
Even though Hud was way more into rides than characters this year, we couldn’t pass up Woody and Jessie!! We never saw Jessie last year (and I figured out why – they are hidden down in this area I didn’t know existed!), so Hud was excited to see her especially:
After our Toy Story encounter we hopped on the train:
One of the rare shoulder rides this time around:
Hud was dying to ride Splash Mountain. Trent drew the short straw on that one. And we discovered tall people get a lot wetter than short ones:
Big fan of Splash Mountain! He rode it quite a few more times as the week went on:
We checked out the Tiki room show, which I still think is one of the most bizarre things at Disney:
As we headed back towards the castle, we ran into Peter Pan. Hud was actually really excited to meet Peter Pan (I think he would have been even more excited if Captain Hook had been there!). Peter Pan cracked me up because he had in-depth conversations with each kid.
Next it was time for Hud’s first ride on Space Mountain! I was a little worried since the ride is completely in the dark and so I started pacing while they rode.
My pacing resulted in this:
It was a miracle!!!! This was the first (and only) time she slept in the stroller during our vacation!
I was afraid to stop moving! Hud wanted to ride the Tomorrowland Speedway which always has a long wait. I told the boys to go ahead so Harper would keep sleeping. And she did:
Post-Space Mountain! Another winner (and another ride he went on to ride a dozen times):
Back to Big Thunder!
We called it a day after that. Again, we had not expected to be at the park very late because we got there so early and we were there until well past six!
Because we are creatures of habit we headed back to Wolfgang Puck again. We made friends with a waiter who waited on us every night and took great care of us:
Back at the room, we gave H&H a treat. “Minnie Sauce” as Harps called Minnie, never left her side again:
