Nap time…

I took a picture of Harper’s favorite napping place the other day:

She loves to nap on the couch.  I am a big believer of do what works for you and this works for us.  She takes a very long nap on the couch (most days).  I like my kids to be able to nap on the go – especially kid #2. :)

Catching up…

Since we are homebound for at least today (more on that later) and Hudson is sleeping peacefully next to me – thought I would use this time to catch up on the blog.

A few weeks ago – the beautiful weather was back with us. We spent a couple of hours outside playing and taking advantage of the Vitamin D…

Little sister hung out in the bouncy chair for a bit:

Big Brother did what he does best…run! :)

We got out the bubbles which is Hudson’s latest obsession. This is how they lure him in to the church nursery every week. :)

Looking forward to more fun times outside as the weather gets nicer and nicer!

Four Months!

Four Months

Dear Harper Joy,

You are four months old today!!! It is hard to believe that you have only been with us for four months, it feels like you have been with us forever.

I say this every month – but you are the sweetest baby I have ever seen.  Every morning when I go to check on you, you give me the biggest smile. It is one of my favorite parts of the day.  You are a happy, happy little girl.  You rarely fuss and are so laid-back.

You are eating about six ounces every 2 to 3 hours during the day.  At night you are still sleeping about 10 hours – which is fantastic.  Your daddy and I say you are our rockstar sleeper!  You still love the swaddle.

No rolling over yet – though you are close from tummy to back. I think it is because you hate to be on your tummy.  And I will darned if you aren’t trying to sit up in the bouncy seat.  To which I have to say – slow down little girl! There is plenty of time for that later!

You are a talker – some would say like your mama.  A lot of times you will interrupt your feeding so we can have a little chat.  I love it and look forward to having long conversations with you always and forever.

Naptime for your big brother and after he goes to bed is our snuggle time.  We snuggle on the couch for as long as possible.  Truthfully, you are in my arms most of the day – I wouldn’t have it any other way.  You do like your swing and bouncy chair.  You ALWAYS fall asleep on your activity map so I am thinking you are not a big fan.

You still get the most comments on your hair.  People are blown away by a.) how much you have and b.) that you have highlights.  Your hair has lightened up a lot since you were born and is very blond at the roots.  It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few months. :)

You love your big brother and give him some of your best smiles.  He loves you so much and asks for you first thing every morning. I pray you two will have a close and special relationship always.

I love you so much my sweet baby girl.

Love,
Mommy

Jumping ahead…

I am jumping ahead a little because I really wanted to document today.  The kids and I went to a park today – ALONE!  This was a really big deal for me. We have been out and about a lot, but always with friends or my mom or dad.  And while it is totally easier right now while Harper is immobile, she eats every 2 hours and it is hard to follow a running 3 year old while feeding her. Today I decided to brave the park.  I went to a smaller park that is not in our town because I knew it was a little more contained.  I am so glad I did because we were there 2 and 1/2 hours and Harper had to eat while we were there.  (Complete sidenote – while there I met a grandfather who takes care of his FIVE granddaughters from 7 to 7 everyday. Isn’t that amazing??)

The pictures aren’t the best quality because I took them with my phone:

And because I LOVE a flashback! The last time we went to this park was when Hudson was about 8 months old:

We will be going here a lot more!!!!

A little light reading…

Hudson loves to read. And he especially loves reading to Harper!

Well hello there….

And a flashback…July 2008:

“Lovey” Harper

Harper LOVES to hold onto something.  Even she is napping she holds onto a little piece of blanket (don’t worry she is on the couch supervised). I think she will attach to a lovey much sooner than Hudson did.DSC_7635 DSC_7636 DSC_7639 DSC_7641  DSC_7589 DSC_7590 DSC_7596 DSC_7630
