Fun on the Fourth!

We had a very nice laid-back Fourth!  While we were waiting on our yummy dinner to finish cooking, Trent set off these things called parachutes in the backyard.  It is not illegal to set off fireworks there and let me tell you Nebraskans love them some fireworks!  I was a little jumpy since I usually only watch fireworks from a distance, but it was still very fun!

***Get ready for picture overload***

Hudson watched closely at what Daddy was doing:

After all of that playing baby boy was worn out!!!  He didn’t quite make it to the fireworks, but hopefully next year!  The fireworks were wonderful and we had to cover up with blankets because it was in the low 60s!!!  I have never had that experience in Texas, that is for sure! :)

Omaha…somewhere in middle America….

We took a trip to Omaha for the 4th.  I was a little nervous about how our very active toddler would do in the car for that many hours.  Turns out I didn’t need to be nervous.  He did great!  We had one little blow up in Wichita, but that was more the fault of his parents than Hudson. :)  If you are looking for a playground at a McDonalds in Wichita, you are pretty much out of luck.

For our first full day in Omaha we went to one of our favorite places…the zoo!  In the past we have been very lucky that the zoo has not been crowded at all.  This time was a little different – since the 4th fell on a Saturday the zoo was pretty packed on Friday.  Then a downpour started and all of the inside attractions filled up fast.  We missed a couple of our favorite stops, but we will just have to hit them next time.  Luckily, we did all of the outdoor sights before the rain.  Our first stop was the giraffes (which is my favorite part:)):

Fun with the Hagins!

We wrapped up our trip by making a stop by the Hagins new house!  I am so excited for the new chapter in their life!!!  Anyway, I didn’t take very many pictures because a. my battery was going dead and b. I was chasing Hudson most of the time.  However, I was able to take a crackberry picture with them which I was not able to do another time we were together.

Love you guys!

Childhood Memories

This week Hudson and I took a road trip with my mom and dad.  We headed south on 35 and spent some time in Salado.  When I was growing up my parents and I went down there every summer.  I have a lot of fond memories of that place.  It was fun to take Hudson there and make some memories with my little guy!

This is the stagecoach that is outside of the Inn we always stayed at.  I have tons of pictures of me as a child in this stagecoach – you can’t get in it anymore so we had to settle for pictures outside of it:

When Hudson realized he wasn’t going to be getting in the stagecoach, he started exploring:

Of course, no trip south is complete without a stop at our favorite university!

Father’s Day 2009

Father’s Day was a great day!  We started out the day with a family walk.  Hudson went down for a nap right after we got back.  Trent and I watched church on the computer – that is our new thing.  We can watch a live stream of the service at our church.  It works well right now because of Hudson’s nap schedule and his aversion to nurseries!

After church and Hudson’s nap Trent opened his cards and gift:

Then we headed over to my parents house for some lunch and more gifts:

We decided to cool down after lunch.  It is HOT here!  Unfortunately, it is here to stay until October probably.  Ugh…
