Only in Texas…
can it be snowing one day and beautiful zoo weather one week later. We took advantage and got outside today. It felt good to be outside again! I think for once I am actually going to appreciate Spring and Summer! I had to take some pictures for my class so I only got a few of Hudson today:

The aftermath…
So, the snow was gorgeous. And record-breaking…most snow ever to fall in the DFW area in one day (14 inches, I think), biggest winter storm ever and oh yeah 500,000 people lost power. Our house was part of that half million. Around 10:30 Thursday night, the power went out. We went to bed thinking that it would be back on in the morning. But, it wasn’t. And it was COLD. So, after suffering for a couple of hours in the cold, we loaded up to go for a ride in the warm car. It really was pretty:
Hudson was giving the side-eye to going outside, but not playing in the snow:
We drove by our lot…where you could no longer tell they have broken ground:
Our new street:
There were a lot of fallen trees in the area. This is a beautiful tree in my parent’s neighborhood that didn’t make it:
We came back home praying the lights were back on. They weren’t. And it didn’t come back on until SUNDAY. That is a long time with an almost-two-year-old. Luckily, we have sweet friends that let us spend the night with them. It was a weekend to remember that is for sure! Oh, and I think there was a Hallmark Holiday in there somewhere? Yeah, we just kind of skipped over that one…:)

Snowapolloza Part II
After our fun morning playing in the snow, Mom and I decided to run to the store to get a few necessities since we won’t be going anywhere until Saturday. At this point the roads were still fine. Slushy and snowy, but not icy. I took some pictures along the way:
See the cute little snowman they built?
This was our attempt to make it up the driveway. We failed. The car is parked out on the street right now…
Our time in the snow must have really worn Hudson out. He took a 2 1/2 hour nap which is unheard of for him. Shortly after he woke up Daddy came home! Trent’s office closed early because of the weather. Yea for more fun in the snow!
Trent started working on our snowman:
Hudson joined in the fun:
But then decided running around in the snow was way more fun:
Back to helping Daddy for a little bit…I love how they are in the exact same position:
Sinking in the snow:
Does this remind anyone else of a baby GAP ad?
An attempt at pictures with mommy and daddy:
This snowball is almost as big as he is!
After Hudson went down for the night we went back out to finish our snowman! Personally, I think his eyes are a little freaky and looks like the mask from Scream. Trent disagrees with me. We named him Ed.
Then I had to indulge in something I remember doing when I was young during the few times we had enough snow…
That’s right…I am pretty much a big kid.
This is how much snow we had at last count! This was at five something…it is 10:30 and STILL snowing!!!! Looking forward to a fun snow day tomorrow with the family!!!
Snowapollooza!
I cannot get over this winter. I love it because I love snow! We are currently getting the most snow I have ever seen in my life and I think it is fantastic! (If only Trent were home with us :( ).
We bundled Hudson up this morning to take him out to play…which of course equals picture overload!
Soooooooo much fun! Hudson didn’t want to come inside, but I lured him in with the promise of hot chocolate. It was his first experience with hot chocolate and I fear we have created a monster! :) Get ready for more snow fun this afternoon!
