Runs in the family…
Harper makes this face, we call “attitude” (as in “show me attitude”). My mom tracked this picture down and sent it to me. It is a little eerie…
New (to us) splash park!
I heard about an awesome splash park in a nearby town last summer. We never made it last summer, so this year it went on our bucket list. We loved it so much, we have already been twice!
The splash pad area has an awesome pirate ship:
Harper kept “washing” her hair:
Relaxing:
Good buddies:
There was a great kids pool there that has a slide and only goes to 3 feet. Katie and I were able to sit in the shade and visit while keeping a close eye on the kids! It was, dare I say, relaxing!
Museum date
We had a Hawaiian Falls date planned with the Hookers, but a bum ear (Hudson) led us to postpone. Instead, we hit the museum!
We hadn’t been there in a while (our mild summer has meant more outdoor fun this year!), so the kids loved it:
Afterwards, we hit Great Outdoors for lunch:

Bizarro day at Hawaiian Falls
Rockstar going down the slide:
I have told anyone who will listen that taking both kids to HF has not been stressful at all for me. And that was a very true statement until this particular day. There were at least TEN ymca camps there that day. It was insane. My sweet friend Tara and I were very stressed. The final straw was when I witnessed a very disgusting moment in the kiddie pool. We decided to cut our losses and call it a day!
Playdate and shots, oh my!
We had a fun playdate at the park with the Pond girls! We have been loving this milder summer weather!! It has absolutely spoiled us!! The park in August!? Crazy talk.
Later we had to head to get the dreaded shot. Whatever it takes to keep these 2 entertained during the 30 minute wait period:
Once home, Hud had to read his puppy a bedtime story before putting him to bed. :)
HF with friends!
The kids and I have really enjoyed Hawaiian Falls this summer (obviously:)) We took the Oaks with us a few weeks ago and made fans out of them as well! :)
Wedding weekend!
My cousin had a destination wedding in July and a party in August to celebrate. The kids were excited to get all dressed up. Hudson was very excited about dancing. :)
Lubbock Road Trip – Day 3
On our last day, we headed to the children’s museum. The kids had a great time!
After a yummy lunch at a popular Tech lunch spot, we had to say our good-byes. :(
I had a very peaceful drive home because my kids who NEVER sleep on road trips, slept for two hours!
I had to take a pic of my GQ son at our dinner stop:
Such a fun time. So thankful to the Blacklocks for hosting us!
Lubbock Road Trip – Days 1 and 2
The kids and I took a road trip to visit our good friends, the Blacklocks!
Day 1….
That was the only picture I got! We headed out around 10 and made it to Lubbock by 4. Not too bad considering I was travelling alone with 2 small children! We only made one stop for lunch and one gas stop. Once there we went to a yummy dinner and then just relaxed.
Day 2:
Jason brought all of the kids doughnuts! They were super excited:
After an attempt at a group shot (Adlee had left for church camp by this point):
We headed over to their awesome neighborhood pool:
Monkey see:
Monkey do:
Sweet friends:
The kids shared Adlee’s room and wanted to read a book together (in other words they made up a story) before bed:
After the kids were in bed (which I will admit took some bribing on my part by day 2), Ashlee and I were able to go out to dinner just the two of us! What a treat! And so very sweet of Jason to watch the munchkins so we could go.
