When we were deciding where to vacation this year, we tossed around several ideas. After thinking through it all, we decided we wanted to go back to go back to Disney. It really is the best place to vacation with kids our age. And while we knew Harper wouldn’t fully get it this time, we plan to go back when she is a little older and can really enjoy it.
That said – plane tickets were super expensive this time around and flying standby was not an option with two kids. So, we decided to drive. Hudson has been dying to go to the beach, so we decided to incorporate a quick visit on the way back. However, this meant EIGHTEEN hours ONE WAY in the car! With two kids who sleep very little in the car! Thankfully, though they are very good little road trippers.
We woke them up bright and early (we thought this would work to our advantage and they would nap during the trip. We were wrong).
Ready to go!
All of the pictures I took of these kiddos in the car were happy ones…because they were truly happy all day!
We stopped at…where else!? a Chick Fil A in Louisiana for lunch:
A rare pic of me and my sweet boy:
She crashed out! For a whole 45 minutes…
Our little navigator:
We stopped at a mexican restaurant in Moblile…I looked up reviews super fast to find a place and it turned out to be great! There was karoke going in the back which was fascinating to the kids (especially Harper, whose current favorite phrase is “what’s that noise?”):
13 hours in the car and they are STILL awake!
They did crash for a couple of hours (because we were still in the car!)
We got to our hotel around 11 p.m. However, we lost an hour so it was now midnight! The kids explored the hotel room for a minute and then we quickly put them to bed (sometime near 1 a.m. – by far the latest these kids have ever seen and hopefully will ever see for a long time!!!)
