Hudson-isms

A few funny Hudson stories:

Richard (a family friend) is one of his very favorite people. Richard came over when Hud was over at my parent’s house the other day. Hudson apparently spread his arms out (palms up) wide and said, “Ree-chard, how are your cats du-ing?” Mom said he sounded like a little Italian man. :)

Last night, Harper spent the night at my mom’s house so Hud and I could do a 5K this morning (more on that later).  Of course, Hud missed her like crazy. After we picked her up, the four of us went grocery shopping. Halfway through the store, he came running over to me, threw his arms around my legs and said, “Mommy, thank you for bringing my Harper back to me!” Melt.my.heart.

Today we went to a party for his pre-school friend (after the 5K), he received a shark in his treat bag.  He has been carrying the little shark around all day.  Well, tonight he told us that the shark was hungry.  I said, “Well, ask the shark if he would like to try a tortilla with beans in it tonight”. He looked at the shark and then looked at me very seriously and said, “The shark says no”. Ha!

14 months old!!!

14 months

Dear Harper,

You are 14 months old today!!! Last month was a rough one for us – you had your first cold and your first ear infection and your one year old shots. All within two weeks of each other. :(  But, through it all you remained the same sweet girl you always are!

We celebrated your second Christmas this past month (really it was more like your first, since you slept through your technical first one :)).  You love all of your new toys, especially your kitchen.  Hudson was very sweet – brought all of your presents to you and helped you open them.  He loves you so much.

You are still a fantastic eater.  You love pretty much everything we put in front of you.  We did discover that you are allergic to soy milk (and yes, we find that odd since you were on soy formula).  We switched you to whole milk and so far, so good!

You are still our sleeping beauty.  Your daddy and I were laughing tonight that when the clock turns six – you turn into a pumpkin. Every.single.time.

You love playing with your big brother.  He “rescues” you every morning and is so excited to play with you right away.

You are still cruising and walking while pushing your baby stroller.  No steps yet – but you will get there! (And for the record – no, you still won’t roll!).

You are my shy one.  You smile and wave at people, but the moment they pay attention to you (for the most part) you duck your sweet head.  It is precious.

You love to swing at the park, follow Hudson around the house and play with your toys (and Hud’s little cars).  You are my go-with-the-flow baby.  You are very laid-back.  If you are fussing (which is rare) it is because you are hungry.  And that is because for the short amount of time you are awake each time – we have to get your calories in! :)

We love you so much our sweet baby girl!!!

Love,
Mommy

Year in review…

2011 was a blessed year for us.  We got to see both of our kids grow and change – and that in itself is the biggest blessing of all. Hudson has turned into such a loveable, FUNNY kid. Of course, Harper has grown and changed leaps and bounds this year. And we have loved every minute!

In January - we got to see Hudson and Harper grow closer

In February - Hudson turned 3! and we had more record breaking snow days

In March - we finally had Hudson's birthday party after the world's worst flu

In April - we took our annual bluebonnet pics

In May - Harper rolled (and hasn't really since) and we traveled to Arizona

In June - Harper embarked on the wonderful world of solids

In July - Harper moved to the big girl car seat and we took a road trip to Omaha

In August - we left the kids at home and visited Park City and Harper learned to crawl! and Hud took swim lessons (and I apparently forgot what year it was)

In September - we took Hudson to Disney World!!!

In October - we hit all of our favorite pumpkin patches and had a Buzz and a Jessie for Halloween

In November – our baby girl turned one!!!! and we made our annual trip to Homecoming

In December - we had a LOT of sickness, but managed to fit in some fun Christmas activities!

I can’t wait to see what 2012 brings!

New Year’s Eve!

Well, we had a very balmy New Year’s Eve this year (which I HATE!). so balmy we played outside and Trent washed the car.  While outside Hudson decided his car was dirty and needed a wash:

Our usual New Year’s Eve tradition didn’t happen this year to some unavoidable conflicts.  While we missed ringing in the New Year with our crew, we had made some plans with another set of friends.  We went out for New Year’s for the first time in our eight years of being together.  I made everyone take (prom) pictures first:

We met up with the rest of our friends at Del Frisco’s for a super fun night. We had a very late dinner and then rang in the New Year there! So much fun!

Happy New Year!!! Bring on 2012!

Baylor Playdate!

The kids and I met Melissa and Grace in Waco for a post-Christmas playdate!  We love going down to Baylor.  Hudson loves to see “his bears”. :)  We started at Ninfa’s (of course), but we did it right this time and met early before the crowd hit.  Then it was off to campus to burn off some energy.

A funny story – Hud is spoiled by our frequent trips to campus and is used to having low crowds at the bear pit.  He was very disturbed by how many people were there at Homecoming.  Well, a lot of people must have stopped by campus on there way to the Alamo Bowl (which we WON!!! GO BEARS!!!!) because it was quite crowded.  When he saw how many people were there he said, “Oh no! Not again!!! There are too many people at my bears and now I am going to have to say ‘excuse me, coming through to see my bears’”. Ha! Made me laugh.

I love seeing Hudson so joyful in a place that brought (and brings) me so much joy and happiness.

Who is this kid smiling at the camera?? I guess his New Year’s resolution is to indulge his mommy once in a while with the pictures.

No Grace or Hudson were harmed in the taking of this picture. Melissa was crouched down below holding onto them both.

This series of pictures were made possible by a bribe of ice cream:

Such a fun day!!! We spent HOURS on campus and enjoyed every minute of it. Looking forward to our next visit!

Happy Birthday to Trent!!!

Trent turned 37 the day after Christmas!  Here he is posing with the gift I gave him, that we are returning. Ha! :)  I wish we could say we had a wonderful celebration for him, but the fact is that it is just so hard the day after a major holiday. So, we have decided to start doing a half-birthday for him in the summer to make sure he is celebrated like he deserves!  Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband!!!

Christmas Day!!!

The excitement got to Hud and he was awake at 6 a.m.!  But, he had to wait for his sister, aka Sleeping Beauty, to wake up. She, true to form, slept until 8.  And greeted us with her always awesome bed head:

Finally, able to come downstairs:

Hudson is not running away here…simply screaming “Merry Christmas” to the neighborhood.

Trent outdid himself with dinner (as usual).  He grilled a turkey this year and it was delicious:

The kids never got out of their Christmas pjs that day.  Seems like a pretty good way to spend Christmas to me! :)
