Every year I have wanted to make Resurrection Rolls with Hudson. This year he was old enough to get it and also help me cook them! Such fun! Next year we will definitely be doing this again and also Resurrection Eggs. We want the kids to enjoy the fun parts of Easter – the bunny, the egg hunts, etc. But, it is far more important to us for them to learn and know the real reason we celebrate Easter – the resurrection of our Savior!
With resurrection rolls the idea is to dip marshmallows in sugar and cinnamon and bake them in the crescent rolls. When you break open the roll, after it is cooked, it is empty just like the tomb!
Hudson was very intense about dipping the marshmallows:
When he wasn’t sneaking them that is…
AGAIN with the sneaking!
I cut one open to show Hudson the marshmallow was empty. We had talked about how the marshmallow represented Jesus, so when I opened the roll Hudson exclaimed “Jesus is GONE!!!” Exactly, my sweet boy. :)
And of course we (Hudson) enjoyed the fruits of his labor:
“He is NOT here; He is RISEN, just as he said.” Matthew 28:6
